I stayed with my brother Donald and his family. He's got two little girls named Bailey and Bethany that I probably met once or twice. They're now 10 and 11 years old. My niece Amber, who recently got married, was staying at Don's house too along with her mom. It was really nice to get to know them all a bit better. It made me really happy. We looked through lots of pictures when I was there. It was nice to reminisce about each other. I learned a lot about my brother who passed away, and also about my father and his parents.
Don and I were able to go visit our dads grave while we were there. I have only visited it once since he died because it's hard for me to think about. But this time I wanted to. It was a good bonding time for my brother and I. We also went to see our dad's hometown and got to see his childhood home and even his high school. I loved that.
This trip made me wish I had visited them more often when I was in California. I'm definitely going to change that. I'd like to visit all my family more often than I do. If that means I have to live closer, than maybe we'll move! We're definitely thinking about that...
